Apple in a more direct response publicly shot down Philip Starck's assertions that he was working with Apple on a product. A spokeswoman told AllThingsD that Apple wasn't working with any core products. The representative wouldn't guess on what Starck had meant. The answer may ultimately be a yacht. An excerpt from Steve Jobs' biography mentioned that the late Apple co-founder was working with Starck on co-designing a special ship after not being satisfied with Dutch boatmaker Feadship's preconceived ships. As caught by Cult of Mac, it would be a 40-foot example with glass walls.
A yacht would help make more sense of Starck's commentary, although not entirely. It would explain why he would keep visiting with Jobs' widow Laurene beyond just social connections, as the yacht would pass on to Laurene. Mentions of Apple and maintaining secrecy are unusual, however, as the company wouldn't have any need for or direct interest in a pleasure boat.
Apple previously granted Jobs a private jet, but it was used for corporate purposes.
