Photo-sharing service Instagram has managed to gain over 10 million users in the course of 10 days, reports note. When Instagram first reached Android users 10 days ago, the service had a user base of roughly 30 million people. That number is now in excess of 40 million and growing. Instagram first launched in October 2010, and had 1 million users by December, only reaching the 10 million mark in September 2011. The massive leap in April is firstly attributed to Android, which has some 500 million users, a massive boost to Instagram's previously iOS-only userbase. Perhaps not coincidentally Facebook announced its buyout of Instagram on April 9th, generating intense media coverage due to the deal's $1 billion pricetag.
