Warner Bros. has begun offering parts of its movie catalog in 1080p HD on iTunes. Shoppers can now buy titles such as 300, Batman Begins, Clash of the Titans, Happy Feet, Speed Racer, and The Dark Knight for $15. Other titles are priced at different tiers. While the previously-mentioned movies -- along with Terminator Salvation, V for Vendetta, Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), and others -- are listed at $15, others such as Superman II: Richard Donner Cut, Watchmen, and Sherlock Holmes are priced at $18. The new release Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is a $20 preorder.

1080p is a recent addition to Apple's popular media store. Apple is offering movies in the standard at a lower file size than previously expected, due to the use of H.264 compression. The newest iteration of the Apple TV is capable of displaying movies in 1080p, but some expect that the move toward 1080p is more directed at the possible launch of an Apple-branded television.
