Apple has posted another update of the firmware for the Apple TV, v5.0.2. The release applies to the black second- and third-generation set-tops only. Any changes in the firmware are thought to be minor, since no differences have been observed so far. It in fact continues to make references to MobileMe, which will soon be rendered obsolete.Apple could be saving any major revisions for next week, since one rumor has the company introducing a new interface at WWDC, possibly the same one that will be used for Apple's dedicated TV set. In the interim, the software's main upgrade could actually be a "control out" API, letting people control third-party components through Apple's interface rather than separate remotes.
