Storage device maker RunCore is debuting new solid-state drives at Computex 2012 in Taipei. Introductions include replacements for MacBook Air factory-fitted SSDs, a single-chip SSD with data self-destruction capabilities, and an external drive with a hidden partition protected by RFID keys. The Rocket Air SSDs are half-thickness drives aimed towards thin laptops such as ultrabooks and the MacBook Air. Compatible with mid-2011 MacBook Airs, the drives use SATA III and Tier 1 Toggle Synchronous NAND technology to offer claimed data transfer rates of over 500MB per second.
RunCore's Mini DOM SSD is said to be the world's first single-chip "disk on module," with capacities between 8GB and 64GB and a temperature tolerance from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit. An
