No Comments »We've long expected Apple to move away from Google as their map providers, and instead put its own acquisitions to use, after the relationship between the two companies started deteriorating.We got the first glimpse of it when Apple started using OpenStreetMap data in iPhoto for iOS.But Apple had used OpenStreetMap data without giving proper attribution. At that time, the Foundation wrote a blog post stating that it was very pleased to find out that Apple had switched to OpenStreetMap, but pointed out that the necessary credit to OpenStreetMap’s contributors was missing.Apple seems to have finally addressed the issue by crediting them in the app’s Acknowledgements section, which was updated recently. OSM Foundation tweeted about it and also confirmed it on their blog:Apple appear to have added OpenStreetMap attribution in their iPhoto v 1.0.1But we’re delighted to see another prominent map user make the switch to OpenStreetMap, and look forward to many more.

Apple Pushes Software Update to Finally Fix Flashback Trojan Vulnerabilities on Mac [Recommended]

Mac users have been threatened with a new Flashback Trojan for the past few weeks. Various third party apps have been provided in order to diagnose and remove the trojan from infected systems. Infecting over 600,000 Macs, it is clear that Apple is not about to turn a blind eye on this particular threat. And lo and behold, Apple has just pushed out an update for the OS X that aims to once and for all fix Flashback Trojan vulnerabilities.
